once you have been bitten by a bed bug, how do you treat yourself, home, furniture?
my wife and i just discovered that we were sleeping on an infested bed, infested with bed bugs and both of us have been bitten quite a few times over the last 2 months; thinking that we were getting bit by mosquitos we did nothing until yesterday(9/29/07) i threw out the WHOLE bed but her and i and i think our children all are still itching. I want to know what can we all do to rid ourselves of the itching? My wife an i both have brusing on various parts of our body, what can we do to heal ourselves an heal our skin?

- Bed bugs like dark, warm, and sometimes damp climates. If your mattresses are old, there's a good chance they're living inside them (including the ones in your kids' rooms). When a bed bug bites, it injects an anticoagulant agent around the wound, just like a mosquito. This frequently leads to the bruising you're describing. They also emit a sickly sweet odor; well actually their waste does, so if you're smelling something sweet, yet acrid, in parts of your house, chances are there's a high concentration of them in that area. You'll need to get a fumigator in to do pest control. Toss the mattresses and clean all your bedding (including your pillows!) well. Do a thorough clean all through your house, taking special care of upholstry and carpets. This ought to take care of the situation.
