Vintage Home Furniture

Any tips on how to market and sell open boxes, freight damage, returns, and floor sample home furniture?

We just opened furniture store that sells returns, freight damage and open box home furniture. We get our products from www.homelegance.com. I am having a real hard time to get people into the store, since we are located in an industrial area with no foot traffic. I put ads in craigslist and local newspapers and it is just not effective. Once we get people in, they usually buy because of our great prices and that they don't mind that the items are a little damage. I guess the question is does anyone out there have any tips on who might be interested in these items in bulk or where else should I advertise and call. We just have too much of these furniture and our supplier wants us to move these items quickly. Any pointers would be helpful. Also we are trying to develop an online presence at www.stufurhome.com to move these items online. Do you think that will work?

  1. I would try advertising in any of those little free magazines and booklets that your city offers. Also, develop an Ebay account, you'd probably be able to sell some of the stuff there as well. Try putting of some signs around town where thereis plenty of traffic, try radio advertising, and if you haven't already, develop your self a website. I've seen some vendors also put up a pernament booth at large flea markets, if you have such in your town. Maybe develop some flyers with coupons on them, even coupons gviing some type of discount if they refer someone to your business, or for repeat customers. I hope some of these ideas help you. Have a great day!
  2. Yes - there is a great, low-cost 'on-line' way to supplement your present efforts. Drop me an email. I'll be pleased to send along the link. Not get quick rich and not a scam.
  3. right now you are on the right path, build a website to help move some of the freight, I also agree with the people who answered earlier, what ever free ads you can place go for it. 2nd quality furniture sales real good I would suggest rent a spot in someone with heavy foot traffic one day to display and sale what you can and boost your clients.
