iIs there such a thing as Gold Antiques?

Are there gold (or precious metal antiques-not just plated)? I am not familiar with this area and was wondering how it was dealing in them? It seems to a true gold antique would have 2 values-1) lONG TERM APPRECIATIVE VALUE AND 2) DAILY FLUCTUATION VALUE BASED ON THE SPOT/MARKET PRICE OF THE METAL ITSELF? Yes? No? What are the posities and negatives in trading and dealing in gold or precious metal antiques? Thanks

1. Yes, there are such things as gold antiques. They are expensive especially with gold at its highest price in years. I doubt the value would fluctuate much based on the spot price of gold. The value of an all gold antique is probably in the antique part more so than the gold part. (For a solid gold antique to still be around it has to be very special)
2. Gold antiques are valuable for their antiquity value, Like jewellry from King Tutenkhamens tomb...you dont melt that down for gold bullion.
