Oriental Antiques?

My grandma passed away and left me some antiques. I have a hand carved geisha girl, that stands about a foot to a foot and a half. With the cravers name engraved into it. With the date of 1800's. I am wondering how much would be appraised at? or any idea on how to find it.

1. Go to a really good and honest reputable appraiser. That figurine should be worth something.
2. What is the name on the antique geisha figure. I may not even be japanese at all, but a British or other European reproduction.
