vintage / artsy bedroom?

i'm re-decorating my room and i want a vintage / artsy room. so far i only bought this breakfast at tiffany's poster and that's vintage but what else could i do? what are good stores in LA or the san fernando valley? i want to paint my room red or purple, what color furniture goes well w/ that? should i paint my whole room red or purple (all 4 walls, ceiling, door) or would that be too dark? thanks!

1. paint yellow and get red and purple accent pieces those colors look GREAT together Old time movie posters framed and hung slanted would look great

Red and purple are not exactly vintage colors [ for bedrooms, anyway ], depending on which vintage you are talking about. 1] Decide if you want a time period [ 40s, 50s, 60s, etc. ] or a location [ old Hollywood, etc. ] or something else. 2] Then pick bedding, curtains, and 3] pick wall colors [ much easier to match paint to fabric, than fabric to paint.] Write back when more decisons have been made.
