Vintage Home Furniture

Is it best to have old mismatched furniture?

I gave away all my good furniture that I had from my parents to my children. I now have old cast off furiture from other people. The advantage is it would be very easy to replace if I had a fire or other problem. Clearing my house will be easy when I die as nothing of value can go directly in the skip. Not having expensive things also means a burgerlar would not take the trouble to break in.

  1. Negative or what, I think youve answered your own question!
  2. If you have everything to match and you either want to change somrthing or replace a damaged item you may end up having to change the lot.
  3. Do you plan on dying soon? Do you enjoy living in a tastelessly decorated home?
  4. You also don't have to worry if the Grandkids spill something on it.
  5. It`s what you like and want. What you are comfortable with, dont worry about other folks advice
  6. Sure why not,The objects belong to u so enjoy them. I did the same thing and u r right it is a lot less worry. Good luck Curious 2006

  8. You have to do what ever you feel comfortable with! If you are happy with mismatched stuff then stay as you are. But on the other hand if you are feeling that you need a change then go ahead and have a change, but do it a little at a time. That way you will always be happy with what you have done! Good luck on whatever you decide to do and just make sure you are happy with what you have done! Don't make too many changes at one go and you will just smoothly change into a nice and updated home! Good Luck whatever you choose to do!

  10. Long Live Bohemian Funk! I love the "Nothing Matches, but, I love it all" look! To heck with what others may think, if you like it, then go for it !

  12. Well, assuming you're not joking, Joe King......live by what you believe in. My house is furnished with mostly second hand furniture, except beds :-) But I do work in the house clearance/antiques trade so have a bit of an advantage. I use the same criteria for running an old mercedes car, does what I want without having to worry about a 20 grande motor getting scratched. My daughter is just in the throws of getting a new kitchen, even though her existing one is only seven years old and looks good,........needs her bl**din brains tested, no idea what's really important in life.......yet! :-)
