What kind of service would remove old, broken furniture and appliances from home?

I have a huge beast of a television, which is old and broken, as well as some old furniture I don't want (a couch and a chair). What kind of service could take both of these off my hands, and how much should I expect to pay?

1. There are people who advertise to do "junk haul away" most of the time in the paper or if you have something like a community weekly paper you might be able to find someone there. You can talk to them about the price.
2. it's free if u wait for bulk pick-up from your garbage man. call the city for the pick up schedule.
