Cheap bedroom ideas?
Hello, hello, hello! :) I'm a teenager with a low wallet and a huge desire to re-decorate, or at least sorta 'chique' up my room! Right now I have light blue walls, and I really want white, antique-ish furniture. The look is pretty random, I have a red little table at one end, and a lamp draped in rainbow ribbons...as well as a fiesta fish I've put sunglasses on. I sorta wanna add a vintage-y but still crazy look...help, is all I can say. If you have any specific ideas, or great online stores I can go to, or even cheap/free ways to decorate my room, please answer ASAP! (BTW; don't tell me about yard sales, or dollar stores...I live in Orange County, I doubt there's a single dollar store around, and all yard sales have huge Luis Vuitton purses that are soooo last season. ;) And like no cool furniture for actual decorating...and even if they do, they are not cheap!) Thank you for all the ideas! :) Does anybody know of any cheaper stores in OC to buy some cool accessories too? :D

- Two of my hobbies are refinishing furniture and sewing. I always make my own curtains, pillows and table cloths. It's a lot cheaper than buying and you get exactly what you want. Try antiquing your furniture, clean thoroughly, sand it to remove finish, paint white and use crackle paint to make it look old. If your furniture is the laminate stuff you can't remove the finish but scratch it up enough to allow the paint to adhere. Buy fabric to make curtains and table cloths. If you don't have a sewing machine you can use iron on fabric tape to hem and secure. Check out diy.com for more ideas. Oh yeah I should add, bed sheets work great if you can't find fabric. Pier One is not too expensive. Is there an outlet mall near by? Usually you can find good deals especially if they have a scratch and dent section. If you don't mind on line auctions try shopgoodwill.com. Great place to find vintage accessories at good prices
- Paint is relatively cheap and easy to use. Your local paint store will probably have free brochures on how to create texture effects such as antiquing. Fabric is another relatively inexpensive decorating element.
- If you need fabric, check out WalMart. They have $1.00 a yard fabric most of the time. Best of Luck
