When you buy new furniture, what do you do with your old furniture?

How often do you have old furniture to get rid of?

  1. i use www.freecycle.org it a great web site to give away stuff u dont want
  2. If the stuff is still useable put it on Craigslist in the free section. I gave away a couch and loveseat and really made a young mothers day. If you have to throw it away some towns require a Bulky item sticker, here it costs ten bucks but the'll pick it up with the regular trash as long as it has that sticker
  3. If your radio station has a trading mart, you could advertise it on there. Goodwill stores will take it. Or put an ad in the newspaper.
  4. Please donate it to your local church or to a place that The Red Cross can refer you to.
  5. How about donating it to a women's shelter. These ladies are setting up in new homes and need furniture. However if it is ratty and nasty then have a buddy hail it off to the dump.
  6. this is what i did. i took the old bookcases that i had for about 10years or so and put them out on the front yard. they were gone within a day. old couches that have been used and used and used have been taken off my front yard within a week. i had an old kids bedroom set. it was about 12 years old. barely used becouse i used to work nights and the night care i had supplied a different bed and mattress that i gave away to someone i knew. other items i have givin away. normally if you put something out in my area it will be gone way before trash day.
  7. In the rare event that I get rid of furniture (actual furniture, of course, not some weird construction I put together from scrap wood), I either Craigslist it, Freecycle it, send it to Goodwill or the Salvation Army, or, for small items, park them on the curb in front of the house with a "FREE, PLEASE TAKE" sign. Of course, this is how I GET my "new" furniture, too. :)
