How are you supposed to respect your drinking limits if you are already drunk?
Please help me out on this one! I am a 20 yr old guy who continues to test my drinking limits every single weekend. I've partyed for about 3 yrs now and my friends and I have all agreed that we drink (to a certain extent) without limits. We discussed the matter and concluded that our style is that we drink until we reach that "Perfect Level" or "Perfect Buzz". At that point, we level our drinking out (by slowing down tremendously but not exactly stopping) and proceed to have an enjoyable time. But my problem is that I've noticed many times this method or "style" of drinking can have bad consequences such as broken furniture, waking up in your own vomit, etc. the list goes on (These things happen only sometimes, not all the time). Anyways, my real question is: 1) Can this method work enjoyably? 2) How in the world are you supposed to recognize your drinking limit when you're pretty much already drunk? 3) Is this lifestyle ok for my age or do I really need to mature? - It's ok as long as you aren't doing dangerous things or things that you aren't comfortable with. And as long as it isn't morphing into an addiction. Try having one person who doesn't drink more than a few drinks who watches out for everybody else and tells them when it's time to stop drinking. Also be sure nobody EVER drives drunk or tipsy...that sh1t kills people...

- Well, it's obvious that this "lifestyle" isn't working, since you find yourself waking up hungover often. You're only 20 and you are, believe it or not, on your way to alcoholism... getting hammered regularly does lead to this serious disease. It's clear also that your "technique" isn't working... but you can/should enjoy some drinks every now and then, so let's re-evaluate. What if you drank: Only on weekends (Friday, Saturday) Limit 1-3 beers PER DAY (idk how this will effect you b/c idk how much you drink, but I say 3 is a reasonable limit... just stop before you are drunk, then you'll still have the sense in you not to get hammered!) Only after 5pm, and Only drink with TRUSTED friends present (maybe not the guy who always has the bright idea to get super drunk!) Seriously, you're not doing yourself any good by constantly getting drunk, you're too young to ruin your liver and get alcoholism...not saying you have it of course but might be on your way.... I'm not trying to lecture you or anything so please don't take it that way, I'm just sayin'..... Oh, and be sure to eat a meal with your drinks, too. Eating while you drink alcohol means you don't get drunk as fast... seriously, if for example you havent eaten all day you have even half a beer you can really start to feel it... :/ P.S. Whats the point of having fun if you don't remember it the next day?!?!?!?!?!
