Vintage Home Furniture

I am receiving some old furniture for my living room until i have enough money for a new furniture set. I?

heard that slip covers are a really nice way to make old furniture look brand new. Any comments on this or suggestions on where i can find really nice ones would be appreciated.

1. Twice I have purchased some good quality slip covers but they did not work either time. They slip and slide a lot and have to be straightened constantly. Try just adding bright colored throw pillows and maybe an area rug with colors that will work with the old furniture. A pretty winter throw will help out also. Call your furniture "Vintage" that makes it seem more interesting and valuable. Happy Holidays.
2. You might find investing in a good cleaning for the furniture a better idea than slipcovers. I wasn't too happy with ones I bought a few years ago. I've seen some new ones that are stretchy micro-fiber. They might be better, but I haven't tried them. A good cleaning and a couple of really nice accent pillows, and your furniture might work just fine. FYI....I've found out that if you have furniture that is less than perfect, friends will feel more comfortable lounging and enjoying themselves. New, perfect furniture can often make people act a bit formal and afraid of doing anything to mess it up.
