How do you get into and make money at buying and selling like stuff at flea markets/auctions/antique roadshow?

is it real difficult to get into flea market/dumpster diving ..to buy and sell and auction off for a profit? how do you learn what to look for ..how to sell ..Ive seen others do it and be fairly succesfull can anyone help me understand? thank you

  1. Your best source of information is to visit those places locally and talk to the vendors. They'll give you an earful, and reveal their secrets. What works in one city may not work in another. Thus, local info is invaluable.
  2. You basically start doing retail business. You can buy whole sale and sell at retail prices. Most newspapers have lists of wholesales outlets. You can find publishing houses that will sell distress books at cheap prices, some importer with items that can sell in special markets. Special because it's distress merchandise. Not regularly wanted, but some computer book that sold for $19.95 and now distress may sell in a fee market if you buy a bundle at $2.00 a book and sell at $5.00. Usually you have to pay for space or a booth at a flea market.
