Collectible Antiques Knowledge Base
do you know where to go for collectible antique pieces? I have so many pieces of all variety of things. Enough to open a small store. But my problem is that i can't take it to one place to have them appraised. So i need a web page that I can give the description and get info on their worth. Any Ideas?
How can I get my Antique and Collectible Club exposed to the most people? I formed the 31 Club to teach people about Antiques and Collectibles. To assist our members my book "31 Steps to your Millions in Antiques and Collectibles" is a free gift with each membership. Our website is www.31corp.com and each day I write a informative blog on Antiques and Collectibles that appears on the website. The Club has also established a market place where its members can buy and sell their items.
How do I sell antiques collection? I inherited a large theatrical collection dating from 1850 which the V&A museum says is of inestimable value. I found museums in the UK & USA who are interested but I don't know how to market the collection or how to converse with these types of people.Auction dealers get toffee-nosed & only want to auction the Will-Look-Good-In-Our-Auction-Brochure Oil Painting, ignoring the collection as a whole. I have already been advised not to separate the collection. There are some items there which are famous. All I have to work with in my search is the internet - but the antiques & collectibles sites only deal with Beanies or thimbles or comic books, and so on. I have not found a really serious site where really serious people look for the stuff of museum collections. Before anyone gives the answer - the library is of no help whatsoever. Has anyone got a clue?
Does anyone know anything about antiques & collectibles? My mom had given me an antique mason/canning jar a long time ago, and I was wondering if it was worth anything. It says "Good Housekeepers Regular Mason" on it and it also says "St. Louis" on the bottom of it. I know that Ball Mason jars are a dime a dosen, but I've never seen a mason jar like this before and I haven't had any luck doing internet searches.
Online Price guides for collectibles/antiques? Where can i get free price guides and information on vintage glass and kitchenware online? I've visited Kovels.com but they don't have any pictures! I've been finding vintage kitchenware for really cheap lately, but I don't know what any of it is worth.
Have you ever had an antique/collectible appraiser come to your home? Have heard they can cost around $200, do a walk-through and you should have everything out to see. I don't really know where to start in picking one, except the phone book. I also know that if they offer to buy anything, they should be told to leave, and that this is unethical. I love details--Thanks!! ;-)
Would anyone else enjoy a category for Antiques/Collectibles? Most such questions are posted under Society and Culture, but I would love to see them in a category of their own. Then, "Collectibles" would have several headings, for 'sport', 'transportation, 'antiques general', 'maritime', 'military', 'glass', 'coins', etc. I could see a problem with it generating classified ads, but that happens in other categories already. Hint--hint. Y!A staff notices questions with stars..
How do I locate a British antique and collectible specialist? I have an personal invitation my grandmother received from King George V and Queen Mary to attend their Coronation Ball July 21, 1911 at Balmoral Castle. She was a personal aide to the Queen at that time. I obviously know its' sentimental value but remain curious as to if it is of any interest to collectors.

What is the best resource for determining the value of antiques? I have recently inherited a wide variety of collectible and keepsake items from my grandparents. Due to space and financial necessity, (single mother of three teenagers) it is necessary to choose wisely the items to pass on and what to part with. (items such as: comic books, WWII artillary, Occupied Japan, coins, postcards, tools etc.
Is the antiques and collectibles market much worse than it was 30 years ago? I'm trying to liquidate my parent's estate. They had a Victorian house filled with all kind of antiques and collectibles - Depression and pressed glass, framed artwork, period furniture, etc. I don't want to use EBAY, a lot of the items are too fragile, too large, or too heavy to ship plus the hassle of packaging and shipping. I tried to contact estate liquidators and auctioneers, but nobody is interested unless the items are Sotheby's quality, and who has that laying around? Last autumn I put some stuff out for a yard sale and hardly anyone stopped. One dealer told me I could ask market value for the stuff and keep it or let it go for 10 cents on the dollar and sell it - it would depend on what was more important to me. Now I don't know if he was being honest or trying to scare me into giving him a good deal. I know what my parents paid for that stuff 30-35 years ago, and I'm not going to give it away, but I'd like to clean out the house for possible sale. Any ideas? Thanks. Not close at all. It wouldn't be worth the trip to you, I can tell you that much. I prefer to sell locally anyway. that why I don't use EBAY.

American and FOREIGN antiques? Are there any antique traders (not necessarily dealers) who have bought and sold antiques and collectibles cross border. Like finding an antique located in Canada (or other countries), and because of the exchange rate buy it for a good deal. And then re-sold it in the USA for a profit? Thanks

How old must a car be until it falls into the antique, or collectible classification? I have a black 1999 Toyota Solara SLE coupe, garage kept, with 31000 miles on it in good condition. It will be 10 years old soon. When could it be considered a classic or collectable car--or will it at all? Would antique or collectable status increase its value? Although it is still a very fine fine car, it is now nearing ten years old and is presently worth little at the present time, compared to new vehicle prices, and I would like a newer car soon. Should I sell it now and buy a new one, or keep it as an antique? I could really use what ever trade in allowence I got from it towards a new car but I don't want to throw it away either! It's present blue book value on trade is about $6500 to $7000 Thanks...
If things are so bad you liberals, then why I am thriving on ebay selling antiques and collectibles? I am not talking about credit card sales here. I only accept cash and its equivalent forms ( i e, money orders / paypal ). People have money, you dorks! Sorry to burst your bubble, but the folks that are buying from me are from all walks of life, not just the rich! You people are so sad. You don't have any real answers, do ya? And for "sargeloda", these are not my family heirlooms. They are items I buy at yard sales and auctions, you ignoramus!
