I always find myself saying cream because there is a paint from Behr called Vermont cream which is really a nice crisp but soothing white.

How can you tell if a vintage piece of furniture is a buffet or a dresser? I have my great great aunt's buffet but my husband thinks it just a dresser. It was prob bought before the 40's.... like I said it's my great great aunt's buffet- and I am 29. It has been passed down through my family as buffet but it does look like a dresser. It's very large- cherry wood finish and it's all drawers. It's all pull out drawers like a dresser. It does NOT have the tall side drawers that open up to a shelf. It's a huge piece of funiture that is very long but also wide. It only has small feet at the botton- like a dresser, my old buffet had long skinny legs before. I know I can make it be a dresser or a buffet if I so choose but I was wondering is there a way to tell the difference? Any buffet information would greatly help! Or I might have a dresser in my dining room!! LOL Thanks!!

Well, I just opened a vintage furniture store and is going ok but I would like to know how to advertise without going to magazines for help. I do not have that much money. I do craigslist but do you guys know of other websites. I am thinking about flyers, they are cheap but I am not a flyer expert. I pay high rent and cannot afford not meeting a specific mothly quota. How do find out about a unique vintage chair ? I found these older chairs at a yard sale and fell in love with them. Not to mention they were a steal at $5 for the BOTH of them. But I've never seen any chairs like them. I love vintage furniture, so I know a little about them, but these are so different that there's nothing to compare them too. They kinda put you in the mind of a queen anne chair, but they sit lower to the ground, and the backs are very high,(around my chest, and I'm 5" 2'. How do I safely remove lead-based paint from vintage woodwork? I just moved into a beautiful craftsman home built in 1913. At some point in the past 94 years, someone painted over the built-ins, crown molding and accents with lead-based paint. OK, I am having a problem with paint colors for bedroom furniture colors. Help !!!!?? Although I am an Interior Designer, I have my speed bumps, no problems until I am ready to do my own house. I am doing my bedroom in a 50's era look. The walls are a sage green, and I have painted the open beams a vintage blue. My bedding is the 50's Waverly look. What I want to do is keep it all looking like it is the 50's. So the problem is, my furniture needs a 50's face lift. I have thought about crackle and also a procedure with spackling that makes it look old then you paint it. But what color??? HELP!!!!

No sanding wood & floor refinish product? I've seen several TV promotions for wood products that claim to create a glossy "finish" over wooden floors and furniture but without any sanding down or harsh chemicals. I cannot find the names of these products, but they state "no odor" and dry quickly and are advertised as made with natural ingredients. I would love to know if anyone knows of these products and/or has tried them. Feedback would be really helpful. I am sensitive to strong chemical smells like varnish, and have several vintage wood furniture pieces as well as old hardwood floors in need of a fresh makeover. I am decorating my nursery for my little girl due 3/10/2008 (just around the corner), and I have a white crib and white changing table. I ordered Wendy Bellissimo Vintage Teaberry (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2407335) and my concern is the bedding has more creme (with a tiny bit of white, and I mean a tiny bit --- a few "white" specs in fabric).... Will this look stupid with WHITE, WHITE baby furniture. We would buy a honey bed (which is what I think would look best) or even a cherry wood BUT this bed was given to us by a neighbor along with a changn table and mattress for $75. I normally would not have puchased something like this for my first baby (a used bed) but it was in perfect, perfect condition, and at 40, well, I would like to think I'm more wise and recognize a smart deal rather than get hung up on "have to have brand new". My question is "will this clash?"... (more below) We have the bed put togehter with a one piece (the hamper) from the Wendy Bellissimo bedding group, and I have to tell you it stands out a bit, but once I get the crib bedding (bumper pad, etc) and curtains all set up, it may blend... BUT I'M NOT A DESIGNER. I just want her room to be lovely. Wall Color is a deep beige or maybe more of a deep cream look. We just moved into a new home with a 12 mos paint warranty that is deemed void if we paint the walls. So my husband is very insistent we NOT paint her walls (i'm bummed but it makes since). Basically the paint warranty covers all of the "nail pops" that are common with a new house.

What century is this anyway?? I will try to describe this one.. my nana gave me a pair of lamps and i often have guests over that admire these lamps and they ask questions about them only i have no answers so heres wh@ they look like... A man statue standing sideways holding a sword in what appears to be some sort of costume he has a mustache and beard and a hat. If this helps at all my grandmother had a theme for each room in her home of vintage furniture, as well as victorian, mostly 20th century and 19th century i just want to know the name of the statue so i can research some knowledge about it.
