Looking for stores in dallas that sell unique shabby chic, or vintage-style, furniture, home items, rugs, etc? Hi, I am trying to decorate my home on a budget and am going to Dallas. I am looking for stores that sell vintange, shabby chic, or other unique, reasonably priced furniture. Any ideas on where I can go? I am looking for fabric, rugs, and accessories too, new or used. Any places you could describe would be REALLY appreciated! THANKS!!!!!
What is this style furniture called? I thought id rephrase this... We are trying to find a certain theme bedroom set... more antique/vintage style possibly- anyways- the bed is the main thing- LARGE 2 toned- Antique White on the lower half of the bed- but the posters and boxy canopy top are actual wood finish- my mom thinks its a type of cottage furniture- its what she wants and ive tried going about it several ways in searching and cold calling furniture people and just can't seem to find it-- we know someone somewhere makes something of the sort- we just need more direction- or maybe even someone who designs furniture... that may be an option also... only serious replies please. i realize it is actually kind of a vauge description- but thats what my mom gave me... shes been to every furniture store in missouri practically and ive been all over the internet... it MUST be the antique white/wood finish big boxy almost canopy bed... she says its cottage... im sure it must be something more- or at least a certain designer who makes it...
Where are the best vintage furniture stores in Austin? I'm trying to redecorate my room in a Shabby Chic sort of style and was wondering what vintage stores might have some furniture or accessories that would go with that theme. I know they have a Shabby Chic at the Domain, but that just doesn't seem as fun as shopping around.

How is the quality of Crate & Barrel/CB2 furniture? My fiance and I just bought our first house and we're limited on what we can spend on furniture. I really love the streamlined mid-century modern style furniture, but it seems like anything in that syle (whether vintage or reproduction) is very pricey. I like what I've seen on Crate and Barrel 2 and it's in our price range: http://www.cb2.com Ikea is out of the question b/c it's all way too cheaply made for my taste. So, anyone have any experience with Crate and Barrel furniture?
Hippy style furniture? Anyone know where i can get some of that? I don't want like posters, lava lamps, and all that crap. stuff that's modern but still has that vintage hippy look to it. i'm trying to redo my bedroom. okay hippie whatever the heck you want to call it

Other similar stores? I'm redecorating my bedroom in a vintage style and am doing much of my shopping at urban outfitters and also a few items from anthropologie. The problem I'm running into is that becuase they mostly sell clothes, they don't have a huge selection. Do you know of any stores that sell furniture and decorative items in a similar style?
How should I decorate my cranberry red living room? My husband and I just painted our living room cranberry red. I'm starting to think about decorating ideas, but am having a hard time figuring out what will work with the bright color and home style. It's a 1920's bungalow, so I want to keep that old, comfortable style and mix it up with some classic Pottery Barn designs. We have a greenish/brown Pottery Barn couch, oversized club chair, brown rectangular ottoman (used as a coffee table alternative), and a beige/sage Persian rug. I was thinking of black and white photographs of places we've visited, but I need other options. Maybe vintage Parisian/Italian posters? Would that be too busy/much? What suggestions do you have for accent table finishes, wall decor, and picture frame finishes? Also, is it okay to have brown wood furniture with black-framed wall art?
how can i make my room look vintige? I have a creamy colored room with west elm blue curtains, and all the furniture is wood. i have the vanessa quilt from bed bath & beyond. since i just have a random style with my room, i want it to look more vintage. how can i do that without changing my whole room? if you can, can you put some sites in that are vintage, or with pictures of rooms that are vintage? thanks!!!
I am taking a poll. Will you help me out? Should I decorate my new place mod/60's style or vintage French/Victorian/girly/1920's style? I can't decide... I love the 1920's and feminine, frilly things. I also like the 60's and the look of the furniture and colors. Please give your opinion. Thanks:) It will more than likely be a one bedroom apt..possibly a two bedroom

Tips for redecorating my bedroom? I would like to redecorate my bedroom this week while the hubby (A fussy metrosexual with an interior design degree and who has redone the whole house in italian modern) is gone. I figure I should get atleast one room in my style! I love the glamour of the 1920's, flappers and old hollywood and would like to do my room in this theme. http://www.secondlooks.net/Gallery4/Hobbies/images/PA120020ee.jpg I have a vanity that looks a bit like this, but mine is walnut I have a Black brass bed with deep red taffeta bedding and gold throw pillows, I also have some misc things like a vintage radio, vintage 1920's dresses, old shawls etc. I have a cool lamp and chair, both with leopard print. So that is what I have to work with. What prints, acsessories, misc furniture, etc etc etc could you suggest. I guess what I need an nice atmosphere to the room, so any suggestions, would be appreciated!! I was thinking of using a movie like Chicago as an inspiration. Ornate vintage classic european home decorations in Melbourne? I'm searching for a birthday present for my mom. We're moving house so I think a nice piece of decoration will be perfect. I'm thinking of something like candy box, candle holder, potpourri holder, or other ornaments. What should I search for in search engines? And the worst part is, I don't know what my house interior design style is called. We'll decorate the new house with the same style. It's European, classic, we have metal filigrees, simple and plain stony items (the ones with carvings and a light white+orange-ish hue) and stuffs. You know, the grand, classic type. what should I get her? And when can I find a decent furniture / decorations store in Melbourne? Please help me. I'm stressed out!
decorating advice for 17yr old? i have my dresser angled so there is this huge space behind it. i kind wanted to put one of those fake trees behind it and put some christmas lights in it but my mom says that those fake trees are expensive. and now that i think of it... it might make my room look smaller. (i have a pretty small room) what should i do to fill the space back there??? it seems empty. also i am 17 and my room is purple with white furniture. i need something to put on my dresser and my night stand... its kinda empty. i have a really nice jewlery box, a candle, one of those mirror things that sit flat on the dresser, a box (that i use for more jewlery, and a small stand up mirror. all on my dresser right now. and i need 1 more thing i think to fill the other corner. the stuff on my dresser is kinda vintage/victorian style stuff. idk. please help. for this stuff i have looked at pbteen, bedbathandbeyond, target, worldmarket, and a few other places but cant find anything really. thanks.
Chandelier Dilemma...? We are decorating our new apartment and I cannot find a solution to our Chandelier dilemma. Our apt style is modern, almost lofty, very simple, some angular lines, white walls, ivory leather sofa, and we have combined it with some inherited old furniture, old radio, and some vintage, bold accents, a la eclectic style, we have bought a very cute chandelier (with some almost black/dark purple crystals, it holds real candles) for our dining area, but now I am not sure on what to put against the dining area wall, and how it will fit to the chandelier, we had initially thought to put a large canvas print of a rendered picture of my favorite landscape view, and now i am not sure if this will fit together. Thanks very much in advance for your ideas and help!

antique dresser set? Last year my boyfriend brought me home this vintage dresser set. At first I thought it was ugly but after a while it grew on me. The othewr day I was moving it around and i noticed a year on the back. It is from 1928. I cant seem to find anything like it anywere online!! I would like to know what style it is, what is it actually called, and should I refinish it?? I know nothing about old furniture and desperatly need some some details!! thank you, here is the link: http://s304.photobucket.com/albums/nn170/joedowen1335/
Bohemian/Parisian inspired bedroom? I want a new look for my bedroom in a french style, although I can't paint or buy new furniture and bed spreads. Currently the walls are lilac with dark purple skirting boards, white furniture and a dark purple bed spread. When I say french, I DON"T want poodles and pink+black. I want more of a appartment style, like those around Montmartre, with a vintage feel and a bit of Moulin Rouge glamour, but I want to come together well. My window has a little windowsill where i'm going to have little pots of herbs or something. Hope you can understand what i'm trying to get out. Thanks, Audrey xx thanks for your answer, but i guess i want less glamour with a more subtle vintage/bohemian feel of that area. A little bit like the atmosphere of the french patisseries and delis if you get me. sorry about my spelling :) xx
help with combining colors for my room!? i already have all of the colors i want picked out, i just need tons of help with the way i will combine all of them to make them match!!!!!! my room style will be kind of modern meets vintage themed [for a 13 year old girl]. the main colors with be lime green & a warm blue. it was supposed to be lime green walls with warm blue doors [plus painted window borders] but im second guessing :( will it be better to have blue walls & green doors? i want to bring a peaceful vibe into my room, but neither too bright or too light -- somewhere inbetween. i will also have hot pinkish bedding with orange, lavender, & purple-ish pillows to bring in some mixed colors. orange and yellow will be focused on the walls for maybe picture frames and picture/memo boards. im thinking of throwing in reds and blacks [vases, decorations...etc]? do you guys think these colors will combine good enough together?? since i want to mix in colors, ill have white furniture to highlight everything :D ok..so here it goes... blue walls w/ green doors or green walls with blue doors? everything will include: hot pink bedding orange, lavender, & purple pillows yellow & orange wall deco red & black extras[a few of these colors!] white furniture... i know its alot of colors, but i like mixing!! :) sounds good?? or if not, what should i change???
