The back of it says: No. 3392 Buffet Solid Cherry Old Salem Fin. Okay, if you read what I wrote before then you will note that there was writing on the back!!

Selling old furniture. How much to ask for? This is ordinary furniture. How would you price a 3 year old couch that was bought for $700 ? I am not greedy, just need to get rid of it. Wondering if I can even get anything for it. How much can I ask for it? I know what to do to sell it. I am asking how much to ask for it? $700, 3 years old. Should I ask for $500? $100? $25? What can I do with old furniture? My Grandparents died at the end of last year, and my Mum and I are currently faced with the daunting task of clearing their house out ready for sale. They have a lot of furniture- most of it's too old and beat up for resale save for a newish bed. What's the cheapest way of getting rid of it all besides paying the Council to collect it? (The house is in Northamptonshire) Thank you, Eva x
Is it best to have old mismatched furniture? I gave away all my good furniture that I had from my parents to my children. I now have old cast off furiture from other people. The advantage is it would be very easy to replace if I had a fire or other problem. Clearing my house will be easy when I die as nothing of value can go directly in the skip. Not having expensive things also means a burgerlar would not take the trouble to break in.

What is the best way to clean and refinish 100 year old furniture? I have inherited a very old dresser/ desk combo. It is in very good condition, but it needs a lot of cleaning. Does anyone know of a website where I can find pictures of tacky/weird/old furniture? I'm drawing a comic, and the main character's house is basically an assortment of the most random and tacky furniture one knows of (think of an eye-burning neon green couch with equally eye-burning orange stripes, endtables with sexy lady legs as the legs, etc.) Trouble is, unlike the ugly dress website which I also needed, there doesn't seem to be a site for ugly furniture. Or is there?
refinishing old furniture? Strip or sand away old finish? My kids are old enough that I can start refinishing the old furniture that family has given us. Is it easier to strip away the old finish or sand it off. All the furniture is stained and not painted. I think some of it is in good enough contition that I can stain it in a different color. Do I strip it? If so what do you recommend that is not toxic to pets or kids. Or do I sand it, if so what grit to start with? If you need additional info, just let me know and I can add to the question. I have refinished furniture before but it was when I was younger and didn't have kids to worry about.
do you have a hard time letting go of old furniture? i have a king size canopy bed (dark wood frame), with lighting and mirrors at the "ceiling" part of the canopy, its a beautiful bed but i've had that bed for over 12 years. it now has war marks, needs one or two very minor repairs, possibly repainted/polished, and it has to be assembled by furniture people otherwise it can be a disaster if not assembled properly. I have alot of years and memories in that bed, its beautiful when its put together but with all the work it'll take to get it fresh & "new" again, i could get a brand new bedroom set. i dont want to sell it. a part of me wants a brand new bedroom set but i'm so attached to this bed, its also "one of a kind" you dont find beds like this much anymore. do any of you have a hard time letting go of stuff you've had for so many years? how do you get rid of that feeling? i guess i just want a new start . . . . and to let go of the old, bring in the new . . . . anyone ever felt that way?

Attention Antique Furniture Experts: Old Rocker? Need to identify this old rocker: It is a dark stained veneer, the veneer pattern has the appearance of tiger maple. The top of the rocker is carved, as well as the front of the legs in what appears to be asian motif. I know little about antique furniture, but from researching this it looks very similar to "Foo Dog" carvings, or possibly a lion. Hope you can help. Thanks.
Do they make HDTVs in the old oak furniture styles? If anyone remembers the 1980s, then you remember those nice wooden television sets that you could put things on top of like a mantle. They looked like a piece of furniture. Do they make that style of TV today but with HDTVs? Where can I find one if they do?

Does Out of the Closet accept old furniture? I'm trying to get rid of an old sofa, an old sofa bed, and an old recliner. I put them out in the front yard with hopes someone would buy them for cheap or even just take them but no dice. I don't necessarily want money for them. So I'm wondering if the Out of the Closet thrift store takes furniture? You're right spknkitman. I should reserve this forum for asking serious questions like "Have you ever seen your father in his underwear?" Thanks to the others who are providing some alternative solutions. Sorry, no Broyhill stuff.
Refinishing old furniture? I have to take up two furniture re-finishing projects and I thought I could use some help from the folk on this forum. Here it goes... Project #1 I recently added a new cherry colored computer desk & a bookcase in my study room. I have an old chair & a writing desk in that room that are maple finish. I want to stain the old furniture to match the shiny deep cherry finish of the new furniture. Project #2 I also added an entertainment center, coffee table and a sofa table in the family room. Even though all furniture in this room is cherry color, the wood accents of the old sofa set look really dull in front of the shiny surfaces of new furniture. So, I want to re-finish the sofa-set to bring it on par with the shiny new items. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!!
Refinishing Old Oak Bedroom Furniture ..help!? I'm a 20 year old girl (I like modern and bohemian themed rooms) that is opting to switch my new oversized bedroom furniture with older furniture (that actually fits in my room) from my guest bedroom...The only problem is that the furniture is this hideous 80's style oak furniture with lots of curlicues, cheesy faux-marble (i think its plastic) and frost mirror finishing. I'm thinking of refinishing it with my Dad, but I don't have a lot of experience..(he's decent with power tools). Any ideas to refinish/remodel it ..and overall change it? Or should I just give up now, and keep the oversized new furniture?
have old furniture...? I have this furniture set (bed, dresser, nightstand, desk) that is about 10-12 years old but in reasonable shape (not broken or anything). Now that I want to get new furniture, what can I do with the old set that doesnt require too much hassle? I dont want to throw it away, I just want it to be put to good use.
Is my old property manager unjustly charging me $51 from my security deposit to remove old furniture(not mine) I went off to college 2 years ago and moved into an apartment near campus. When I moved in there was some old furniture left there by the old occupant. These include an old kitchen table and chairs, a bureau, and cheap ikea drawers. So naturally, when I moved out, I left these items because these things were present when I moved in. I took and/or disposed of all furniture that I had brought personally. I cleaned my apartment and had the property manager check it out before I left, and they ok'd the job, ensuring I would be receiving my security deposit back. I have now received the check, sans $51 they have charged me to remove the old furniture that was there when I moved in. I am now over 300 miles away from my old place, so my only means of communication is telephone (I can't go there and raise hell in person). I have no proof the furniture was there when I moved in (pics), but I'm sure they must know theyre not mine. What do I do now? Is there any recourse for me? Thanks

Can anyone tell me anything about this old furniture please? (Pics included)? Hi there, My Grandparents died at the end of last year, and we've since been clearing out their house. I've given most of their furniture away to charity, but charities won't take anything that doesn't have a fire label on. The attached pics show an old sofa with 2 chairs and a Bristol pottery commode. Can anyone tell me anything about them, and give me suggestions as to what to do with them please? I've thought about selling them on eBay, but have no idea what they're worth. I live in Northamptonshire, in the UK. http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i239/ktheartilly/IMG_0226.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i239/ktheartilly/IMG_0221.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i239/ktheartilly/IMG_0220.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i239/ktheartilly/IMG_0222.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i239/ktheartilly/IMG_0224.jpg Thanks for any advice you can offer in advance!
