Where can I find cheap quality furniture? I'm going to be moving into my first apartment on New Year's Day, but I don't have ANY furniture for it. I'm very limited on what I can spend due to bills and the holiday season but I still want my home to look nice. I guess you could say my style is modern/contemporary - I like to decorate with black and white, then add in some colors that pop. I like straight fine edges, accented with wild decorations... Where can I find these types of items for a low cost???
I need home decor advice. Any ideas? I've just moved into a new rented apartment and like it very much. Before we moved in, the landlord has spent a lot of money renovated the dining room and spent a lot of time on the wooden paneling. This paneling is not to my taste at all, in the rest of the house it is painted white which looks light and airy, but in this room it is a dark teak color. I want to make this room an office so I can work at home and want to soon buy some furniture. However, I am at a loss at how to decorate this room. Should I go for an Old-English style drawing room look complete with leather chesterfield sofa or would it look to good to contrast the old paneling with contemporary furniture which is more to my taste. I'm not an interior designer so don't have the vision. What do you reckon?
Which style of furniture do you currently have in your home? a) Contemporary or modern style furniture. b) Country or rustic style furniture. c) Traditional or victorian style furniture. d) A mixture of all of the above. e) I don't have any furniture. f) Other. I would have to say "c".
What is a trendy bedroom color that goes well with black furniture? Have a new home and the master bedroom and bathroom are white. It has vaulted ceilings and it's pretty big, but it's too much white. What colors should I paint it? My downstairs is two tone tan color; very neutral. I have black furniture in the bedroom. I don't want anything too contemporary... I'd prefer a soft, romantic look and am horrible with decorating. Thanks! And should I paint the ceiling as well? It's painted in my downstairs and looks nice.

Big Screen TV in a Modest Living Room? We just upgraded our TV to a 50" big screen. We have a very modest and homey living room. I don't know how it's going to look. It's not one that stands alone--we have to buy a stand for it but I'm not too sure how it's going to look. Any ideas on making a big screen fit in a warm and casual living room? If this helps we already have a lot in the room. One lazy boy, an over sized chair, an oversized sofa (with queen-sized bed), an upright piano (cherry wood), DVD/CD rack, and two large speakers with surround sound. Our home office is also a part of the living room so it's pretty much just a long room. The color of the TV is black where as all the other furniture are more neutral colors. Is there anyway to get these piece to fit in or will it always look like the odd ball? Any ideas on stands? Our home is anything but contemporary but that’s the only kind of stand we seem to find.
Cheap and easy decorating tips? We will be either living in an 1 bd apartment OR (crossing fingers) a two story townhouse if the waiting list works out. We will be on a very tight budget and will be taking on: old coffee table/end tables (wood), our 2 futons from college (metal frames), his mattress and bed frame from his home, and that's about it... There is a giant flea market right down the road from where we will be living. Anyone have good tips for people like us who don't want a depressing, empty place? We will be on a very tight budget since he will be starting work and I will be working anywhere I can since I plan on hopefully getting into a grad school for the spring semester. Any easy tips? Like for curtains, refinishing furniture, slip covers, etc. I will have lots of time until I start school (hopefully!) so I will be going bonkers with nothing to do. I am very good at crafts and working with my hands, and I can borrow my moms sewing machine is need be. We have contemporary taste with a modern edge. FYI, we are getting married in spring so we already have bed set covered, basic appliances, etc (hooray for gift registries!). It's only decor we are worried about (thankfully). Not getting married this spring, but this JULY and hopefully moving in b4 the wedding. I do not know what is wrong with me tonight!
Can anyone tell me some great but reasonably priced furniture stores in Mumbai (preferably in the suburbs)? I am interested in buying 2 things: sofa-come-bed and dining table. My budget is Rs.20,000 max. for sofa-come-bed and Rs.25,000 max. for dining table. The designs should be stylish and contemporary. Antique stuff is a strict no-no. I checked out the Concept store in santacruz but the prizes were going above my budget. What about other similar 'branded' stores like Durian, Style Spa, Tangent etc. Are the prices of their stuff similar to Concepts? If yes then any local furniture stores u know based on ur experience or some store that u have heard is good will also do. Please provide some valuable info!! P.S.- Any idea how is the store Better Home opp. Andheri station(E). I have checked out its stuff which is quite nice but i have heard that their service is not bad.
Turning Contemporary Oak Curio into Old World look...? I purchased a large (7' high,4' wide, 24" deep) Polaski brand Curio Cabinet before moving into my new home and changing my decor style. It was very expensive so I want to "convert " it to my current style. Details- It is solid, natural light oak. It has aged and gotten darker as oak does over time. It has large stair step like crown molding at the ttop, base and around the sides as well. I'd like to change the finnish or look to be more of a pecan, burled wood finish like the rest of my Old World style wood furniture. Any ideas on how to do this? The oak has had lemon oil put on it for conditioning, so would I need to strip it? I am an interior decorator and do a lot of faux painting buthave no clue how to get a burled wood look OR how to stain/ refinish it to a darker Pecan color? Help, ideas anyone? Thanks! The rest of curio is heavy beveled glass front, sides and shelves.

What do you think of this bookcase? Color? http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60071358 Guys, if you don't like IKEA, plz don't comment. Ok, I live in a small apartment, and saw this at IKEA the other day, and thought this would give my living room a nice contemporary flare (and also solve a ton of my storage problems). Thing is, I can't decide what color to get. My sofa set is black leather, and my dinette set is cherry wood and glass. The rest of my apartment has white walls, and caramel carpet. What color do you think will work well with my home? I was thinking lighter because my other furniture is on the darker side. What do you think? Thank you so much!
I need some cheap ideas for wall decorations.? I moved into a new apt. about a year ago and coming straight out of college I was pretty much was starting from scratch as far as home furnishings. In the past year I've pretty much filled my new apt. with all the furntiure I need but the walls are still really bare. I need some ideas that don't cost alot of money that I can make myself, as a little art project. I want something creative. I'm fairly artistic and I've always been able to draw well. I love a good challenge when it comes to making stuff myself so i'm open to any suggestions. My only stipulation is that I want detailed suggestions, nothing like, "well paint a picture than". I need inspiration because I'm really not very creative. Links with pictures would be very helpful if you are borrowing an idea or inspiration. On a side note, I'd say my style is very modern/contemporary. I like clean lines, dark woods, and abstract art. As an example most of my furniture is from crate and barrel, cb2, pier 1, and west elm
